Oracle SQL Developer

Mr. Muskrat on 2006-08-25T17:35:02

Yesterday our DBA pointed out Oracle's SQL Developer (a free download). It allows you to view the database objects' structures, data, etc. as well as debug functions, procedures, etc. I have it installed and I've mucked about a little bit but have not really tested it. If you use Oracle then you might want to check it out.

I think I will install it today

I've been meaning to install it for the last couple of months. Thanks for the reminder. :-)

It is ok...

I have been using it since TOAD costs $$$. I think it may be that I am used to seeing the TOAD interface.

Indeed, but TOAD really is a good tool. TOAD has the advantage of working with MySQL and SQLServer, though. Hopefully, it will work with PostgreSQL someday as well. :)

Aqua Data Studio

Check out Aqua Data Studio as it connects to many different data sources including Postgres/MySQL and runs on Mac OS X, Linux, Win.

May be missing some of the more complex Oracle specific features but still a great app.

Darn!

I thought you were advertising for a position for an Oracle developer. I was going to reply with my rate card. :-)

Don't I wish! We could use more people but it's not in the budget right now.
